John Diefenbaker was actually the one who first proposed the idea of putting hate speech laws in our criminal code as per the link above. And then Lester B. Pearson established a committee on this. And Pierre Trudeau put it in the criminal code in 1970. Diefenbaker to my knowledge also relaxed immigration laws.

Diefenbaker is not as bad as Pierre Trudeau and Justin Trudeau is probably even worse than his father. His father once said that the government has no business in our bedrooms. And now in Ontario it is now fucking illegal to have indoor gatherings with people you don't live with due to a virus with a median age of death of 84. However hate speech laws have really undermined democracy in Canada and Diefenbaker deserves an assist for those laws because he's the one who lobbied the Liberals to put it in the criminal code in the first place. So I hold him partly responsible for Canada's death as a confederation. Because of hate speech laws, we can't do anything about mass immigration. The government can throw Maxime Bernier in jail any time they want as soon as they see him as a threat and say he is spouting hate speech for wanting less immigration.
