Well most things seem to always go back to money. Most politicians start working on their exit strategy the moment they are elected by pulling favors for their next career. They also always want to leave a "legacy" of their divine presence in office and a massive bailout to "save" Alberta is a big shiny prize.
I find it interesting that some politicians are not seeking re-election (both Chowgry and Edmonchung) and there will be positions of power handed out with the "great reset", but who can tell since history has proven that no one can understand the mind of a politician.
