Further confirming that this whole PPC thing is just a scam to line Max's pockets.
He's gotta run someone in the next election in order to be a "party", and if he wants to be the party leader and keep those $100K/yr paycheques rolling in, it's gotta be him who runs (at least).
But he gains nothing by actually winning. He's old enough now to collect his full MP pension (the age is 55 for MPs with 6+ years before 2016, which he has, and h'es 57y.o. now). So he's better off just continuing to collect that pension plus the $100k salary he takes off of PPC donations. But if he doesn't make a token effort in election just to keep the party alive, he loses that $100k PPC cash.
It amazes me that there's anyone out there who can't see right through this. How are people still forking their money over to this scam? Of all the ridings in Canada, he picked the one that he's least likely to have any chance in. He has a 100% chance of losing in that riding and he knows that. There's no way that's by accident.
I think you need give serious consideration to the possibility that this is exactly what it looks like.
he wants to move the PPC away from actually contending for victory, and more towards a protest party.
That's not a thing. No legitimate party sets out to intentionally lose elections.
Max is making bank just tweeting from his couch. Hell, not even. Rumor has it someone else runs his twitter account for him.
All Max has to do is keep that twitter account sloganeering, and the donation cheques keep coming in. He has no need whatsoever to win a riding or get himself back into the House of Commons. Not when he's already making a full MP pension.
I've always believed in the principles of the party more than the leader. I will contact my local PPC leader, it should be interesting what he thinks about this. I actually had a decent candidate in my riding last election, so I should discover what is really going on, for better or worse.
I've always believed in the principles of the party more than the leader.
But the principles are whatever the leader says they are. And if the leader is a bad actor, he'll just tell you what you want to hear in order to reel you in.
At least with a party that has leadership election you get a say in the principles by way of electing the leader who's principles are most popular. Not so with Max and the PPC.
No hope whatsoever.

The only defense I can think of is that he wants to move the PPC away from actually contending for victory, and more towards a protest party.
But I do not know, I am only speculating giving him a lot of benefit of the doubt. As a PPC member, this is concerning.
