Contact was the best thing the ever happened to the aboriginals. Europeans did indeed bring civilization to the aboriginals. They gained peace, rule of law, security, running water, electricity, consumer goods, dependable food supply, education, reading, healthcare, and opportunities that any white man has. Sure, the horrible plagues decimated them, but most would still jump at this deal. Schools 'teach' that whites committed 'cultural genocide' by educating aboriginals, but not how violent and cruel tribes were to each other. In Canada, almost all the 'Indian wars' did not involve whites. Aboriginals gave little resistance to colonization because whites were much better neighbors. When murder, slavery, and ignorance define your culture then it's time for a change.
