Not all boomers! I’m a last year boomer and I haven’t missed a step thru this shit. And my non-boomer wife is with me 100%. To be fair, most boomers (and most Canadians I’ve met whether boomer or otherwise) have been frightened to the point they dare not leave home except to buy food. I can sense their under their breath disapproval when I mention I have travelled throughout this ‘pandemic’ and continue to do so. Anyway, the beach was lovely - caught a great sunset about 2 hours ago. Happy I left.
I also left for NYC many years ago. Born and raised in Montreal. I still return because of family. No other reason. Too many nicer places in the world to live in and visit.
Many Canadians are smug asses. They have a superiority attitude as regards the US which is completely unwarranted. Better prospects and living standards in the US and many other places.
I recall a couple of weeks ago on reddit so many hockey fans talking about the Canucks and how serious their corona situation was. One or two apparently had IVs, but for what no one knew. They all just assumed the team would basically die. Then the story disappeared. We don't even know how many were positive, whether any were sick, how many were just sidelined because of potential exposure, etc. Joke.
100% correct. People are slowly giving in. “This is for our good” or “its just a few more weeks so we can all be safe”. Bullshit. Glad I left. Unfortunately my family is still there - two kids have left already, two more will leave as soon as they graduate.
I haven’t been to the night spots in Jakarta for a couple of years now. But man were they fun! And it’s Ramadan so they would be quiet if open. But the rubber helmet point is spot on! This was all highlighted as far back as the 70s in the song Surrender by Cheap Trick.
I’ve been tested three times since April 6. Once in Canada before I left the country and twice in Indonesia. The Canadian test does not mention the Ct rate. The Indonesian test states it clearly. (It’s 38, which is too high, but at least it’s disclosed clearly.).
This is not new. The tax authorities have always viewed revenue from a business as taxable as income rather than cap gains. If one is in the business of buying and selling properties then the gains should be taxed as income. The issue is whether the conduct amounts to a business. This has been the case for decades.
I used to agree. No longer. Most cops seem to enjoy bullying the defenseless. They ignored blockades last year because it wasn’t easy and the protesters were serious and perhaps armed. Now they go after common people on the street, without masks, at playgrounds. The rank and file cops need to find a voice. And their leaders need to step up to prove we are not living in a police state.
Unless owned by foreigners thru Canadian corporations? A huge loophole?
