it was never allowed to develop its own culture
We had our own culture. Since 1965 that culture has been systematically deconstructed. I think at first PET's goal was to heal the rift between English and French Canada, the thinking being that there won't be cultural conflict if there is no culture. It rapidly slid into the "Canada is a shopping mall" model.
I tried shopping around for a church when I moved to Ottawa. This was back in October of 2019. October is Pride^TM uhh... I want to say "month" but it's more like "season" at this point. First three churches near my house had rainbow flags flying outside. First one I found that wasn't tarted up with LGB flags began the service by apologising for occupying the traditional lands of the whatever people. If there's a church, preferably Anglican, in Ottawa that hasnt been infiltrated by leftists, let me know because I haven't found one.
Scorsese isn't exactly ripping the lid off some deep secret, either. No one confuses Action Comics with Dostoyevsky. No one goes to a Marvel movie expecting two hours of Cannes-bait wankery or France's latest effort to mainstream pedophilia. People ride roller coasters because roller coasters are fun, not because the roller coaster was subversive or nuanced.
I've wondered about that photo before. Was he the one man in the crowd with a deep seated moral conviction against the National Socialist philosophy, or was he just the only German who doesn't like being told what to do?
Really? The past year was an outlier in a lot of ways, so I'm inclined not to judge based on last October. Will Ottawa be free of "pride month" this year?
