i haven't been here in months but i'm already dreading listening to wokie friends try to tell me protesters are bad people because they can't discern reality from obvious fake bullshit.

which group of people is notoriously anti-natalist? are conservatives getting vasectomies in droves at doctors linked in conservative subs, at 23, before having kids? do conservatives all post in childfree and talk about their furbabies being better than 'fucktrophies'? no.

they dumped every awful thing they could think of into a hat and instead of picking one and just staging something that you could MAYBE believe to make the other side look bad, they dumped the whole hat out and now it's immensely obvious that this never happened. but people are braindead and will eat it up anyway.

i literally live in downtown ottawa and i have people that don't live here try to tell me about the protesters...😩

Would they likely influence things in any way that isn't NDP or Liberal? Just based off what happened in the US, I know a lot of conservatives didn't trust their mailed in ballots to be counted

And criticizing him for doing it means you're just an angry conservative according to the discourse I've seen. Rules for thee..

The only time I've gotten called a TERF was when I advocated for other women's safety in vulnerable situations, so even though most of the term really doesn't apply to me I wouldn't mind being in the TERF party!

It's so scary to see things continuously get worse and worse. I'm a programmer and I do my best to help my friends get their projects up off the ground despite not being a front-end dev but there isn't much I can do when one false flag can get your hosting pulled. The way things are going, just being a conservative will be enough in the future.

I especially worry about places like this because I don't know many conservative Canadians and this is one of the few places I can go to see what's actually happening in our country.

Netflix is a total loss. I remember when idiots turned the Cuties fiasco into a political thing where lefties were trying to say it was fine just because all the main voices against it were conservatives that were already critical of Netflix.

It was depressing, that is one issue that should never ever be partisan 🤮

Exactly. Plus, I've heard voting for anyone other than NDP makes you a white supremacist, a nazi, etc. etc. so we're all guilty here if random people's opinions are what dictates what reasons we should have for who we're voting for.

Our borders are open on the 9th I think, but we can't travel to the states yet until the 21st. A friend of mine in the states is getting married soon and I was hoping to be able to go so I hope this is the last extension on their part.

I feel so bad for kids growing up with all of this. Math is objective and logical, there's no need for anything subjective to be included in a math curriculum. When I got to uni and math profs started bringing social issues up for no reason in class I thought it was the most unprofessional thing I'd ever seen.

I can't imagine any implementation of this that:

  1. Would actually help students obtain better understandings of mathematics, not just dumb things down for everyone, and

  2. Wouldn't try to make young impressionable kids hate themselves for something they have nothing to do with.

Ooh, that's good info, thanks for correcting me on that, I hadn't heard.

I know all those reddit commenters would insist this is an exceptional circumstance but I'm not sure I agree lol.

I've been seeing people claim that people that don't want to mix their Pfizer or Moderna doses with the opposite for their 2nd jab are entitled, selfish assholes who they hope catch covid.

We're the only country that I know of that is treating our citizens as guinea pigs to this extent as far as I know. The CDC recommends against it. Some countries aren't counting a mixed dose (not AZ mixes, apparently those have been tested) for vaccine passport purposes.

Idk. Personally I don't think it's selfish at all to want to wait a little longer (at this point it's not long before it becomes super easy to get either one) to ensure your health doesn't suffer for it. The rates are already so low (in my area, anyway), and I feel like most essential workers that were planning on getting a vaccine at all have already gotten both. Anyone WFH isn't very likely to spread it imo.

It's just frustrating how people will tell you to drink the koolaid, eat the bugs, step in line or you're an awful person who deserves to suffer for it.

Idk if I can link here but go to the Ottawa subreddit and look at all the threads with multiple hundreds of comments hating on people that just want to ensure their health isn't damaged by an untested mixed vaccine. Where is the empathy?

Is the border between the provinces itself included? I'd imagine not since they gave up confirming travelling between ON and QC was for essential travel like 2 days into the border shutdown last time.

I love posting here. If I ask a question in lefty spaces I get told to educate myself, meanwhile you guys fully have sources on hand ready to share lol. That's interesting though, I feel like it's definitely rapidly sped up in the last few years.

That makes a lot of sense, I'm gonna save this post, thank you!

I've read a lot of good posts and writings on how communism sort of infects 'unrelated' communities and not only indoctrinates them but poisons them against other viewpoints. A big one is communists going into trans etc. spheres and, well, there's a lot of mental illness, a lot of trauma in there that they can take advantage of and sink their hooks into. Really interesting phenomena but so creepy to watch happen.

I've never gotten the hypocrisy where you're allowed to be so virulently hateful toward Christians. According to most of these people, Israel is actively committing genocide against Palestine...but you'd never hear them ever try to justify doing anything to synagogues. And nor should they, but I wish they'd at least be consistent.

Haha thank you! I always really liked metacanada but never posted there because that's when the mass tagger first happened and I didn't want to get banned anywhere else. Plus, it was always kinda fun to play devils advocate on woke issues and not have anything 'incriminating' in my post history for people to balk at. I just got fed up enough with stuff recently that I finally started checking out these alternative sites.

Part of it's definitely the way our country is going in general but also the fact that all my interests are echo chambers, I just want sewing tips I don't get why I'm still hearing about Trump 6 months after he's out of office on a cushion cover tutorial ?

I feel like there's nothing I can do to influence any of the people in the places I typically go to reddit for. I'm glad I have IRL friends to talk to about makeup/skincare/sewing/those kinds of hobby things, because I sure as fuck wouldn't be able to find them online with the way those communities instantly ban anyone with a different opinion.

Genuinely, how do they justify that insane number? We already struggle so much with housing costs and the job market, I can't imagine how mass importing people could help us with that. What is their reasoning, besides importing more votes for whoever lets them in?

Seriously, the only reason it's in the news is because we care that it's part of our history. Most other countries hide this part of their histories, either that or they just wiped people out so there's no one to talk about it. I remember spending months in my Canadian history classes only focusing on Native issues.

If we were the awful country these people think we are, we wouldn't be hearing about these issues everywhere we go.
