A foreign country can decline any visitor they choose. Domestically this is unprecedented, makes people unable to live, and is a crime against humanity. The media is manufacturing consent - they are stating the popular trends they wish to produce, not the actual sentiment.
I'm out in public and overhearing random people openly calling for politicians to be prosecuted. Being surrounded by sycophants and echo chambers, these quaint canadian politicians have no idea how hated they've become.
Why the establishment is doomed:
It's ignoring signals. Yeah there's a lot of shitposting. But there is a reason all of the mainstream newspapers are either turning off or curating comments, and shitposting isn't the main reason. They are pretending that feedback the polity is sending them, don't exist. Ignoring as irrelevant or non-existent anyone that has a bad reaction or psychological suffering to some policy or phenomenon.
