These days, there is no distinction. CBC radio is competing with podcasts, CBC TV is competing with vloggers, and CBC news (online written news) is competing with newspapers. Maybe a nationalist will want a broadcaster, but that only works when there is a common culture and set of values. Canada simply does not have that and likely never did.
In the private sector, when you lose money you make operational cuts.
