And he was right. Democracy is how you end up with a drama teacher as your leader because he’s good looking. The problem is it’s probably the best we can come up with, the best result you can probably have is a democracy that doesn’t get corrupted by the retards.

The fact that we live is a country that's ruled by an intellectually challenged part-time snowboard instructor is a strong indication that Socrates at least somewhat right.
The problem is, the alternative is autocracy which almost inevitably leads to tyranny. And it's probably not a coincidence that our current age of unprecedented freedom and prosperity happened in parallel to the proliferation of democracy.
Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the other ones.
I think a constitutional republic is better than a democracy? Seems to have better means for enacting policy and checks and balances. Don’t get me wrong, every system can be corrupted but democracy just strikes me as a gong show compared to a well structured republic
