Actually they do. Many Muslims have come to their defense justifying the murders on the basis that cartoons of Mohamed were published, including the former prime minister of Malaysia, a member of the Commonwealth.
I mean, it's literally in their holy book.
Ignoring parts of the religion is apostasy, which according to Mohammed himself is punishable by death.
Islam is unreformable by design.
