There are epidemiologists like Sunetra Gupta who argue against lockdowns and argue for natural herd immunity and shielding of the vulnerable as a strategy. But they are vilified by a number of vocal prominent scientists and so we don't get to hear about their expertise on mainstream media. Science has become politicized.
