Considering how much money our government spends on bullshit, I don't feel particularly angry at small business owners cheating their taxes. They are certainly not the worst offenders. Wealthy Canadians cheat on a lot of taxes. Especially if they have investments in foreign jurisdictions that don't give any fucks. Because their income isn't reported conveniently on a little slip of paper. They hide a lot of their revenue and report bogus expenses, have the best accountants for cooking the books, etc.
If the money being spent was actually you know, reducing homelessness, reducing opioid addiction, etc. then that's one thing. But what I see is the government spending a lot of money with no results. How is it that we are taxing more but poverty is getting worse?
Yeah T4 labour is getting cucked hard by the CRA. As someone who has had a small business, I fucking hate the CRA and the Karens that work there.
I'm not opposed to taxation and safety nets on principle. But our government and the CRA are notoriously corrupt. Harper introduced the CRA snitch line btw. It's not just a Liberal problem. It's a Tory problem too. The CRA's mandate is not to help the many homeless and opioid addicts in our society. It's to bleed you for as much money as they can.
The Canadian system breaks the backs of the middle class to allow over 50% of the country (about 99% poor, 1% rich) to do fuck all, and still live comfortably. It seems like right wing politics hates the poor, and left wing hates the rich, yet you guys don't know that you're getting DPed by both of them at the same time. Keep working 80 hours a week so you can front the bill for the guy that makes 100x more than you, and the guy that doesn't work at all.
CAREFUL! I know a CRA employee who was moonlighting and this resulted in a LEA dynamic entry, arrests, big investigation, blahblah; total shitshow.
I don't know why the locals were being such hardass supercop by-the-bookers! Big deal, trafficking in Schedule A this, procceds of crime.
Luckily there is justice in this world after all, and she ended up with a discharge. It was very awkward and smelly and quite sickly sweet in the air when she walked in the room! Must be French! Also they withdrew the charges, so all's well that ends well!
It was very fortunate that the investigating officers discovered that the BF was NOT a CRA employee, and for the pain and suffering he caused her the man was sent to jail in order to serve the interests of justice and punish the offending behaviour.
He'll think twice before he makes her con him into using her property as a trap house/store frontt! DISGUSTING ABUSE OF A MODERN STRONG WOMYN! Go cops and GoC! WOOOOOooO!
Not everyone who is collecting CERB is abusing the system. My girlfriend hasn't been able to get another job during this pandemic despite applying to lots of places and going to many interviews. There is far less capital now looking to hire labour than before the lockdown. Many businesses (especially small businesses) have went bankrupt. The Canadian wealthy prefer to invest in real estate and foreign enterprise rather than Canadian enterprise.
Be mad at Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford for destroying jobs. Don't be mad at CERB recipients because Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford killed their jobs. The Conservatives have no chance of winning Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes when they punch down rather than punch up. The poor are a growing segment of the Canadian population. The middle-class+ are a shrinking segment of the Canadian population. You can't expect people to vote Tory or PPC when so many Tory and PPC supporters show open contempt for the poor. Liberal and NDP policies have caused more harm than good. But you're not going to win the unemployed over to your side for showing contempt for them instead of trying to present them with solutions to their problems beyond "let them eat cake" remarks like get a job when the jobs are being destroyed by our government. Even under Harper, chronic unemployment and the housing bubble were problems in Canada. It's just that the problem has gotten worse now. The Liberal-Conservative duopoly has made things worse for the poor, not better. Donald Trump won Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, etc. in 2016 because he showed empathy towards the poor.
I agree with you.
BUT, if you live in a major city, there are many many jobs out there, just maybe not in your preferred sector of the economy.
In Montreal the trades are very very busy, and there's plenty of unskilled factory/warehouse jobs sitting unfilled. If you can drive a school bus, operate heavy equipment, drive a truck, or dig a ditch, you can be working tomorrow morning and the interview will be to check if you have a pulse and can count to three. Heck, even the two grocery stores within walking distance of here are desperate for workers. And they pay pretty good too.
