Preserving freedom and limiting government is the key to conservatism. Society changes over time, the key is to let people decide these things individually, not an authoritarian state.
The state is necessary to protect personal/property rights, but we have allowed the state to become a surrogate parent, which is the root cause of all this decay.
It's understood that a truly free market can't exist (Utopia isn't real) but when we talk about regulations, we should always do so in the spirit of preserving as much freedom as possible.
People shit on the USA historically for being religious compared to Europe, but the reason religion was vibrant in the USA is because people were FREE to worship in whichever denomination they liked. Contrast that against the UK and the old and tired 'official' state religion of Anglicanism, or an Islamic nation with mandated religious law.
That is a result of the state growing too large. Like a ever growing vampire the state needs new blood to grow the social programs budget.
As for Christianity, its true that Canada is getting overrun but the bulk of the immigrants coming to the USA from Latin America are cultually Catholic. If they came legally, they probably would integrate just fine.
Thomas Sowell talks about this, he noted that divorce, teen pregnancy etc shot up after the expansion of the welfare state.
Government programs incentivize families to break apart rather than sticking together when times get tough. This is especially true among single parents in certain minority communities in urban centers.
Of course, there is an entire industry centered around growing dependence on the government. Modern feminism encourages women to stop having children and becoming a human tax generator instead. The state ultimately wants to replace old stock westerners with a more controllable group of people from places that are used to living like serfs.
There is no magic solution to reverse this, it is the result of decades of societal erosion. I believe that the only solution is to balkanize the country into smaller political entities that can form their own economic and social values.
