Reform Party was a fringe party under Preston Manning, and won 60 seats and destroyed the conservatives.
Many of their policies were enacted by Jean cretin and the liberals.
The reform party only got anywhere because the PC's dumped all their support overnight when they took on Kim Capmbell as leader.
Where do you see anything like that going on here? Conservatives seem more or less happy with O'Toole. And you still have virtually no support.
What am I missing here?
Give it about 10 years, the conservatives will have about the same support as the ppc.
No they won't. Because if public opinion ever shifted that much, the CPC would shift with it. That's the reason why real parties have leadership elections every few years, and also why the same two or three major parties have remained the major parties since the beginning, even though Canadian society, culture and values have changed drastically since then.
That's why fringe parties remain fringe parties - because if there were any market for their ideas, the major parities would adjust themselves to cater to them.
