Considering that every single study for the past 150 years has said the exact same thing: Certain masks work to various levels of effectiveness when used for very specific tasks, when properly fitted, for short durations of time, and when used by people who are properly trained how to use them.
They all cherry-pick out the line in the conclusion that says something along the lines of "masking up the entire population at large would be fucking retarded because most people are fucking stupid and it would have no fucking effect on the spread of disease".
I am oil and gas. I am fire-fighting trained. H2S trained. Emergency underwater re-breather trained. And a few other things.
We do daily safety meetings. Pre-task safety meetings. We have hazard-cards so people can anonymously rat out our co-workers. We do online training. We do annually internationally certified courses. Fit tests. Tailgate safety meetings before every task. Rescue drills.
I still have to discipline people to shave their beards. The guard shacks even have safety razors and make people shave before they enter location.
We still have situations where somebody succumbs to H2S and two more people drop dead trying to save them because they are too fucking stupid to mask up properly. These are highly trained people. Professionals with engineering degrees, journeyman tradespeople....
People are fucking dumb. The idea that masking up a 3-year-old before you send her to preschool......
I have seen some models/videos of particles coming out of mouths, i have also read one research paper about mask effectiveness with a perfect seal on a dummy (Catches 50% of large droplets, less than 10% of aerosols) .
Someone shared a huge list a few months back but I didn't go through them.
None of the mask-supporting studies were RCTs (Randomized Controlled Trials). All mask RCTs show that cloth masks and surgical masks do not reduce the chance of getting a flu/airborne illness. And no RCTs relating to "masks reduce the spread" have ever been completed.
