Had an interesting chat with a certain person over Christmas, not quite this insane, but she was right up there with the covid scare and the Trump 'there is no fraud' events. I didn't have a whole lot of information on the covid stuff to present her as I wasn't really keeping it all bookmarked (or it tends to be scrubbed down the memory hole so fast that links 404) so she probably wrote me off as a crazy.
The next time I saw her we talked about the election vote fraud and this time I had more sources. I showed her articles from the papers of the challenges and corrected her, with sources from even the MSM, about how many lawsuits there actually was, and even the suitcases and the pictures of what happened in ballot counting stations throughout the US. I explained everything calmly and when she had a counter argument that she heard from the MSM, I was able to correct her nearly every time with articles and videos with the rare case she just took my word for it. I even explained the parts where Trump's team made mistakes as well (like typos in legal challenges, etc) We even briefly got into BLM and some of the real videos of their violence.
She was white as a ghost and shaking. I honestly think at first she was furious at me (how could I believe this stuff) and then with more and more stuff I showed her she started to realize what I was telling her. She was in pure shock after that the entire time. But she listened and after almost two hours of this I had catch my ride. She didn't really say anything as we left but she nodded and walked away still white as a ghost.
I was really not sure how to help her. Her own stubbornness on having to be 'I'm always right' kept her coming back trying to defend her POV but finding out everything she thought she knew was lies just broke her.
Imagine this happening to an entire nation. I honestly don't know what they'd think or do if/when this all comes to light. How on Earth are we going to deprogram an entire nation that thinks all the stuff they were told on TV and in their echo chambers is the truth?
I’ve had some success with family and friends, but honestly I’ve lost more friends over all this than anything. I’ve engaged some people at work, just voting at the edges of their uninformed beliefs, and then the next week I hear them laughing and joking about how stupid trump is or something, and it’s just back to square one.
Honestly, people don’t try to get informed, they don’t know they take our freedoms for granted, they just accept whatever news or social media that’s right in front of them. Oh whatever it has nothing to do with my life right? It’s just a default worldview, and everything is fine, if I needed to know something, I’d know it!
