Opressing religious groups has never been a good idea historically. It makes me wonder if the people in charge are just incredibly short sighted or actually have some sort of master plan (genocide) to deal with whats about to come towards them.
Salvation does not come from the church, they could live stream or do conference calls to get their message out, also blasphemy laws were repealed a few years back.
