Massachusetts had a 10pm curfew since November. And the cases went up anyways. I believe California has had a 10pm curfew since mid-late November and cases skyrocketed there. Virus gonna virus.
I've seen cases go down recently in France, Belgium and some other places in Europe. But can we really attribute that to curfews when curfews didn't work in Massachusetts and California? Maybe there's another element.
And once jurisdictions lift restrictions, the cases are going to go right back up anyways. Virus gonna virus. You'd have to keep restrictions in place until at least March/April when the weather gets warmer to suppress the virus. And that comes at a financial and social cost to society. All to protect the 0.2% of the population that may die from this virus.
There's all this hype about ICU admissions in the media. But ICU admission rates in Peel are 57% lower than the death rate. Because they don't bother to put 85 year olds on their last legs in the ICU. The death rate for seniors (65+) is significantly higher than their ICU admission rate. The median age of death is 85 but the median age of ICU admission is 63 here. The ICU is usually reserved for younger patients who have more of a chance of survival. Unless you're a colossal fat ass or have some immuno-deficiency disorder, this is a virus that mostly fucks up old people.
ICU capacity is only at 87% here even though the media has been fearmongering that our hospitals are "overwhelmed". And even at 87%, the hospitals don't even bother putting you in the ICU if you are old and unlikely to make it anyways. They already triage before they even hit capacity. The media is full on fake news.
