"Health board chair Joe Cressy says Friday’s numbers set a devastating record for the city and he’s calling on all levels of government to invest in solutions."
No talk about "root causes" when it comes to these deaths, because they know one of the major root causes and it doesn't fit the narrative. So they skip right by root cause and get to the weasle-phrase "invest in solutions."
This is all politician talk. Small, despicable, ineffective, talk-in-circles garbage.
the government opened an oatc beside the only greyhound/ bus stop in my home town, the mall and its businesses emptied out (pre wuflu)
Govenment workers send 'clients' out to find more clients, those who also need 'treatment' ie more funding for them to spread dope for china
i know 3 kids in my hometown of 10k that died of overdoses, kids who never got the opportunity to turn it around. Kids not seasoned junkies. One day theyre on a pain pill from a doctor the next the government is recruiting for a drink and then they get the fine china.
Kick the dope dealing government out of communities. bus them to the cities for their right to access medical help. The rural areas will lose funding and the cities will be forced to deal with their problem. Time to send it back where its coming from. See homeless in your community? Get them showered, shaved, fed, registered to vote and offer a ride to see if they want to vote and access more funding in the cities that are better equipped.
This is mostly true, no delusions there but a sizeable amount will be those who are separated from families for reasons like you listed as well as others. My intention here is to limit expanding the heroin trade into rural areas and hopefully help some folks access services while bringing it to the doorstep of those who bring it to ours. Like I mentioned, of the 3 overdoses i know, all were 19-20
I do take issue with the fact hope is gone and theyre lost causes. People are people and while many cant live what you and I call normal lives they can improve. They dont need to die on the streets while a man gives them a hot dose of fine china. Theyre somebodys family. Somebodys son or daughter. Just because i wouldnt have them around my family doesnt mean they dont deserve a better quality of life. Whats the point of having a government if it cant manage these things? I think we all agree that on some basic level we support social programs so junkies dont break into our cars. Ignore the problem and it gets worse, deal with it and possibly get something whether its for the most vulnerable or keeping those productive doing what they do.
They didn’t die of the Rona so it’s not my problem. Wear a mask you’re going to kill grandma.
