To be clear, donations go to the site owners who are currently paying for everything out of their own pockets. If you can spare them some change to help lighten their burden, please do.
Bitcoin and ethereum fees are expensive. They should accept litecoin or something of that nature. It costs $5 USD just to ensure that an ethereum transaction gets confirmed. A litecoin transaction fee is like a few cents or less.
Yeah with bitcoin's mempool being crowded with a bunch of transactions these days and the transaction fee to get confirmed being like $6-9 US, doing micro-transactions on-chain isn't feasible anymore. Bitcoin is cheaper than sending a SWIFT wire transfer internationally. Domestic EFT bank transfers within Canada are either free with an online bank or they're included at a cost of $4-5/month with a Big 5 bank. And Visa/Mastercard fees for merchants are cheaper for merchants except for very large purchases. But beyond that, bitcoin is not very useful anymore. And the same can be said for ethereum these days with it costing $5 to confirm a regular transaction in 12 minutes. If you want to execute a smart contract, it can cost considerably more than that. These cryptos can't scale on-chain unless they increase the block size.
That's only a financial contribution if there are advertisers they can deliver you to.
There are not. Meaning they get no $$$ from your participation to cover the cost of running the site.
Again I don't care if you donate, but don't lie and pretend that your presence here is helping generate the revenue necessary to run the site. That's only the case when there are advertisers paying the site owners for ad space and clicks.
On the contrary, your presence here is costing the site because that's server load they have to provide service to which isn't generating any revenue to cover the server cost.
Just stop. Your presence here in no way helps the admins cover the financial cost of running the site. You are (at present) a cost, not a revenue stream. We all are. Which is why they're accepting donations.
Do you recall Facebook asking for donations ever? Even back in 2007? Of course not. Because that is not how the model works.
Facebook generated ad revenue in one form or another more or less from its inception.
2004: Facebook first starts generating ad revenue with its "Flyers" project...
.
Roughly two months after Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin launched Facebook in February 2004, the two took some minor steps to monetize the platform — just enough for a small financial cushion to help while the company got off the ground.
As Zuckerberg said in an interview with the Harvard Crimson shortly after the platform went live, "It might be nice to get some ads going to offset the cost of the servers."
That April, Facebook started selling bits and pieces of ad space to companies promoting moving services, T-Shirts, job listings, and other offerings for students.

Donating seems like a good way to end up on some list. Unless of course we’re already on a list. Hello RCMP officer, this account only posts satire.
No idea.
Free if we go back to Reddit
Reddit will ban you for anything that goes against the chinese overlords.
Why not?
I'm not trying to pressure you to donate, I'd just like to know what your reasoning is.
