Very true. Why do "doctors and engineers" leave their countries to work as uber drivers here? I don't know any country where doctors don't live an above average life. Go back to your country to work in your high status profession.
People think they earn more money so they live a better life, but due to cost of living, earning less money in a low cost of living country actually grants a much better lifestyle.
I had an uber driver in Romania with a masters in engineering a couple years ago. Incentives are fucked up across the world.
Their education isn't accepted for a reason. It isn't to the same standard as here. My Ukrainian friend said he bribed his professors when he didn't do an assignment. He bribed officials to get a driver's license.
In other countries, the concept of plagiarism doesn't exist. Copy and paste "research" essays are normal. Look at China and how many scholarly articles submitted to journals were found to be mostly plagiarized or completely fabricated with fake evidence and fake peer review, and afterwards retracted.
We love and respect third-world nations so much that we are willing to entice them to come to Canada instead of staying where they are, working where they are, and making a huge difference to the population of that country.
What do we call extracting the oil, rubber, tea, furs, diamonds, sugar, or silver from less-developed nations? Colonialism, right? Bad, right? Well, in a knowledge economy, what should we call extracting the top 1% of people capable of becoming doctors, nurses, engineers, and educators from less-developed nations?
Based?
