I searched StatCan for an hour for the breakdown of origin of crime guns, e.g. purchased by a PAL holder vs smuggled. Then I Googled it and found out it's not a stat they've kept.

Of course they don't. Why would knowing if guns used in crime are bought by PAL holding Canadians or smuggled in by criminals be useful in reducing gun crime ?? But lets keep talking about registries when we dont even keep this basic stat. Makes total sense.
Oh and if you're for banning guns because those deaths are still too many, then you logically have to support prohibition. Drunk drivers kill about 6x as many people than there are firearm murders.
Firearms account for about 250-260 murders per year in Canada.
