I have a birth control implant.
Unexpectedly, it has wrecked complete havoc on my hormones and I only found this out earlier this year.
I called to push the appointment up in January, they said no and to wait for the scheduled one I had coming up this Monday because they were backed up due to COVID.
I got a message today that it has to be delayed because it is deemed "non-essential" despite me already telling the physician what the implant was doing.
I've had horrid experiences with other gynecologists and didn't want to see another doctor.
To top it off, I booked this 18 months ago.
If it stays in past expiry, it can lead to an infection and potential fertility issues -- things the doctor told me when it was put in originally.
I'm so distraught that we are actively being categorized, on every front, as either essential or non-essential.
Bless you all.
They are not answering calls regularly in their office due to COVID. I've returned the call and made it crystal clear that I am not OK with the appointment being cancelled, especially after I've voiced concerns.
Thankfully, I have a family member who works in a hospital. They are going to see who is in the ER that can take it out for me ASAP.
My heart goes out to you and I pray you get the help that you need. I can't imagine how many other Canadians share a similar problem such as yours. I don't know how much longer this can go on before something gives. I pray for all the good people of this Earth. Keep your wits about you and remember you are not alone.
Fuck this country. We need to stand together and separate. We need to stop paying taxes. Start our own colonies and work together.
Best health care in the world people!! ??
If you are older than 22 you should not be on that anyway. Use condoms until you are ready for kids
Sucks this is happening to you. Try to make as many phone calls and emails to the hospital and other staff. Hopefully you get it done soon. Wish you luck.
I just watched my best friends husband and son spread her ashes because she could not get an appointment in person. Stage 4 ovarian cancer, died 33 days after diagnosis. She was only 38, her son is 9.
Please, do not let this go. You will likely have to present to the ER to get in sooner. Lie if you have to. If you don't aggressively advoate for yourself you'll be pushed back for years... the tsunami of lock down missed surgeries and diagnoses is just beginning.
I cannot imagine the pain this is inflicting on you and so many others. I don't even hear about people getting sick from COVID. But I'll hear about a slew of health issues they've developed because of these measures.
I'm so sorry for your loss and my heart really goes out to that boy.
As fucked up as it sounds that is probably one of the easiest work arounds. She could also call 911 and say she's experiencing issues (maybe say uterine prolapse?) Or last idea I can think of is going over the border and pay a doctor in the States to help.
It's a hormonal IUD due to expire in 2.5 weeks.
That's the point I'm at. I'll brace the discomfort if it means getting this thing out.
