As an Albertan, I am pro letting the eastern bastards freeze in the dark. However this could have unintended consequences and lead to a massive push and wave of subsidies to rapidly covert everything to electric and cut out oil entirely.
This would require a level of competence that the public sector is incapable of. Getting the private sector to do this is possible, but it would cost the taxpayer a ton of $$ as they would want the money up front from the government.
Transalta, one of the largest power companies in the entire country, has already said that it would take an electric grid that is at least 4x as large as the one that we currently use.
There is no fear of large scale 'electrification' displacing oil and gas over the next 50 years despite what the radicalized leftist degenerates say.
Dude, Canada literally could not afford to do that overnight. We aren't rich, and our currency is eroding everyday.
The clocks ticking and I'm firmly in the 'shut it down' camp. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, and Ontario and K-bec are about to win an incredibly stupid prize.
I want the maximum amount of economic destruction for the longest period of time when -- not if -- Line 5 shuts down. I don't necessarily want eastern Canadians to fucking suffer, but I think that they deserve to suffer horribly as a collective for their poor collective decision making.
Crank the suffer knob to 11 and break the fucking thing off for all I care. Maximum fucking carnage. You get what you fucking deserve in the end. Make them pay.
