I just got back to Toronto and got 2 hefty tickets, 1. for refusing their covid test(I asked if they had a non-invasive test i.e. saliva test and they didnt) - $1880, 2. for refusing to go to the hotel - $3755. Has anyone had any experience fighting these?
I don't know how to add an active links, but this might be something? Canadian doctor that explains this works in all commonwealth countries(see below). I have also heard that if you plead not guilty, they get tossed. Have a friend that just came home from Costa Rica. She got off the plane w/attitude and said no to all 6 checkpoints. Went straight home, not test, no quarantine hotel, no tickets.
I was under the impression travelers were required to show proof of a paid reservation at a quarantine hotel as a condition to checking in for a flight to Canada. Is this incorrect? I’ll likely be traveling to Canada in August and won’t stay at a crummy hotel.
No, you need to have a neg covid test 72 hrs before your flight, and they asked me for the arrivecan number that generates when you register that youre flying in, I didnt show any hotel booking, hell no theres noway those places are safer then youre own home or someone you trust
This is the correct answer. Courts will be backed up for half a decade.

Ok. Thanks. If you don’t mind me asking, where were you flying in from?
I flew in from Florida
Thank you for sharing!
I'm flying in June from Toronto and now know better what to expect.
Please update us if anything else happens with your fines and Godspeed.
Kenny is claiming that they won’t let you renew your drivers license if you don’t pay your fines
Who?
Alberta premier
Jokes on them, by the time most drivers licenses expire, they'll have banned driving!
Canadian or American dollars?
