No they aren't. That motion doesn't suspend anything. It's just a sternly worded letter saying "Anyone who calls an election during a pandemic is an asshole". That's it. It has no power to "suspend" elections. The opposition tabled this motion because Trudeau has been jockeying for an election while he's riding this pandemic bump. This motion is just calling him an asshole for that.

Please exercise a little more skepticism when watching/reading alarmist content on the internet. Always allow for the possibility that the person you're listening to you is exaggerating, being sensationalist, outright lying or as in this case, just doesn't understand the subject matter.
The vote was 327-1, so does it matter that the opposition tabled it? What I'm seeing here is, at very least, an agreement by all parties to ensure that everyone who has been there since at least late-2015 gets their cushy MP pension.
e: AND an undisturbed summer holiday...
Because legislation would actually suspend elections. A strongly worded letter to Trudeau calling him an asshole for trying to trigger an election doesn't. The opposition can still call an election if/when they feel it's appropriate. And rest assured, as soon as it looks like the Conservatives would win an election, they'll start pushing for one.
The opposition aren't seeking an election during the pandemic because Trudeau is riding a wave of popularity due to that pandemic. It's Trudeau who wants an election right now, and the opposition who don't.
So many of you are like "REEEE! Why can't we have an election right now?!?!"
Because Trudeau would win a majority and then you'd lose the ability to call snap elections for the next four years. That's why. You don't call snap elections when the other team is polling in majority territory. That would be suicide. How do you not understand this?
No, this is proof that the opposition aren't retarded enough to think it would be a good idea to call an election right now while the Liberals are in majority territory. Why is this so hard to understand? Once again A snap election right now would result in a Liberal majority. THAT is why the opposition are trying to discourage the Liberals from triggering an election. Now if Trudeau calls an election, this motion lets the Conservatives say to the electorate "See? Trudeau is an asshole for making you go to the polls in the middle of the pandemic". THAT is the purpose of this motion.
Yes, it's not that you just don't understand how politics works. No, everything is a big conspiracy. THAT'S how you explain the things that you don't understand.
People like you should seriously just STFU and listen. It's as if you're watching a chess game but you don't know the rules so you're interpreting the game through checkers rules and then getting mad because you don't understand the moves that are being made. I mean look at yourself. You're literally calling people "traitors" for not wanting an election to be called while Trudeau is in majority territory. Holy shit.
Stop complicating things.
Trudeau is up in the polls so he's trying to trigger an election. The opposition just called him an asshole for it. That's all that happened.
