LOL you people don't even know what "vote by conscience" means. It doesn't mean you, a constituent, voting for the party like best in elections ROFL. It means MPs voting independently on legislation without a party whip dictating a caucus vote.
"Vote by conscience" makes no sense whatsoever in the context of individual citizens voting in elections. Because that's what every single person does when they case their vote - even the ones who are voting strategically, are doing so out of their own conscience.
I swear to god, the entire PPC crowd is a bunch of children who's never learned about politics before and are just now trying to figure it out. It's like every day I'm having to explain things to PPCers like minority governments, popular vote shares, confidence votes, the difference between motions and laws etc etc.
But by all means, piss your vote away and hand Trudeau another four years of rule over you.
Ackchually, the conservative party of Canada never voted for Bernier to compare/contrast. Specifically, he lost leadership to Scheer by two votes. People voting Scheer are simple ballot-checkers who'd blindly vote PC regardless of leader, while people voting Bernier left, many, alongside him. Losing Scheer would not lose votes, while losing Bernier did. So strictly speaking, NOT voting Bernier did not work out well for the Conservative Party, but we do not know precisely how much better it would have been had they done so.
