What you're seeing here is the government persistently trying to convert the Canadian Armed Forces into the Liberal Party Armed Forces by purging any dissenters. Tyrannical regimes always do this because an army that's loyal to the country, its citizens and its laws will stand in the government's way of abusing those citizens.

Replace that army with one that's loyal to your party and/or its leader above all else, and they can be used against the public for the benefit of the party.
