I've had enough of the aristo-refugees.
If we're going to have a program that provides sanctuary for the world's most vulnerable, at great expense to ourselves then can we at least try to ensure that we're taking in the world's most vulnerable?
The problem with our refugee program is that we're exceptionally generous, which means that we're the first choice destination for displaced people.
How many refugees even are able to secure resettlement in the West? It's less than 10% and the ones who get out are the ones who have the best connections or the ones who can bribe their way out.
It's a guaranteed recipe to ensure that we only get the elites, who will take their government payments happily and have enough money to chain-migrate their friends. Our system is the most easily abused in the world.
I'd actually be in favour of doubling the refugee intake per year if they had to live in the territories for at least 15 years before applying for citizenship. I'd triple it, even.
We need to settle those lands; we could make the program work for us.
Instead, we're just bringing people with far more money than most Canadians into the country and paying them benefits for no reason.
It really is an outrage.

The war in Syria is over. It’s time for all of them to go home and rebuild their country.
