The moral of the story is, if you bring a gun to a fistfight, you're going to have a bad time one way or another. That dude is now going up for murder.
You can't just pick up a gun and expect it to be some trump card that will make you "the baddest motherfucker in the valley" and scare away all the bad guys. It doesn't work like that. Clearly. The mob will still challenge you. They'll test you to see if you've got the parts to use that thing. They'll get in your face and dare you to shoot them and as soon as they get the sense that you're not going to do it, they'll interpret that as weakness and you'll get walked all over and end up having to shoot people to survive. That's the fundamental problem with bringing a gun to a fistfight. You're left with no choice but to shoot people if a confrontation starts. And now you're going on trial for murder.
There's a reason why riot cops do basically the exact opposite of everything these larpers did. The riot cops arm themselves with less lethal weapons, they stick together in tight formations, they don't let rioters in their lines and they never engage the mob in argument because that can only lead to escalation. They just stand there, hold the line and ignore the loudmouths. Because they know what they're doing.
Seriously, if you don't know what you're doing, just stay home.
This kid volunteers as a junior firefighter and junior deputy. His short life has been sculpted by community service
I get that, and he's morally justified in his actions, even straight through to the shooting. But people should know what they're doing before they pick up a gun and confront a mob. It's not a video game.
Like I said, those guys did everything wrong, morally justified as they may be. They are open to criticism from a tactical point of view.
Kid defended himself and was chased down by armed assailants. He put them all down.
If you find yourself on your back in the middle of the street surrounded by commie thugs trying to kick your head in, something's gone horribly wrong.
I called it yesterday.

You shouldn't go out and play Rambo unless you know what you're doing. These guys were doing everything wrong, from engaging with the mob in arguments, to letting rioters move around within their lines, to letting themselves be isolated and surrounded, to not arming themselves with lesser means of force, meaning they have to go straight to deadly force to defend themselves against unarmed people if/when a fight breaks out.
