This could be a real shitshow. Windows and Apple may run the computers that people work on, but Linux is what runs the servers and equipment that people’s computers interact with.
If I recall, I think they walked back on almost all of this stuff because there was a lot of developers associated with the kernel threatening to pull their work from the project. I don't know the legalities so someone wiser in this area can enlighten me. I think I even heard some chatter on some forums about forking the kernel although I don't know much about that.
