If you want to discuss slavery in the Canadian context, you'll have to talk about natives. Some of the early British colonists came over with African slaves, but that wasn't really widespread. Natives we're the ones who most of the enslaving and selling in early British North America.

I somehow doubt they'll really talk about that though.

Slavery was never legal in Canada. In pre-Canada, almost all the slave owners were aboriginals, but that does not fit the leftist narative. There were so few blacks in pre-Canada that we know little about them but apparently some were slaves. A black in Canada today is a thousand times more likely to descend from slave traders than a black slave from pre-Canada. Despite this, leftists push their racist message that whites are indebted to blacks.
