What nobody talks about is that with opiates, you DON'T get over them with a certain level of addiction. Literally nobody does. The "cleaned up" people you hear with the success stories are always on methadone. Don't get me wrong, it's better, but they're still hooked and get high off their orange juice in the morning. NOBODY stops it once they've been using for a few years. THey are not helpable. The fentanyl crisis was actually an economic benefit in the long run.
Sometimes it's just the lack of good jobs and the cost of living.
Yeah, that an being an asshole. People who have friends and family can always find a place to stay. It's not just the lack of jobs and housing, it's also a lack of willingness to move where needed. Homelessness for mentally sound people without addictions is bloody rare.
Most homeless people are massive pricks. They are unhirable, have no self control, and massive addictions. The last two could be blended together. They are also lazy as fuck.
My best friend actually died from fentanyl a year and a half ago, leaving his wife and 2 year old son.
I support this message. At a certain point we cant help anymore and just have to pass out some darwin awards.
The first step is to admit that you have a problem and seek help. Alcoholics, junkies, any sort of addiction.
Junkies need to want to get clean. Without that they will never ever stop using.

It really is the fact that many canadian families are just a couple missed pay checks away from financial ruin. Sad but true.
