See, the Liberals want an election (so they can win a majority) while their polling numbers are high and while all these people are on CERB (because that way they can campaign on keeping the handouts going).
But the Liberals don't want to be the ones to trigger an election because there will be a severe penalty for the party who makes Canadians go back to the polls barely a year after the last election, especially where there's a pandemic going on.
So by designating the Conservative's vote to create and anti-curation committee vote a "confidence vote" (which triggers an election if the vote passes) they can blame the Conservatives for making everyone go back to the polls in the middle of a pandemic.
There's no way around it. These people are bottomless fucking scoundrels.
There's a streisand effect associated with it too, with the prorogation, the redacted documents, and now the filibustering of the anti-corruption committee it's grabbing the attention of people who probably didn't care about this before or had lost interest, now it's become increasingly obvious they're throwing hail marys to cover up their corruption, plus the Covid BS..the public may be starting to wake up.
