I said no thank you and we wanted to preserve principle and we would accept the low interest rate for safety. This went on for a bit, she wouldn't accept my rationale.

She started to get angry with me and I don't usually do this but I decided to tell her what my job title and career was in the stock market before I semi retired. It didn't even phase her, she just kept right on going. I could have said I was the Governor of the Bank of Canada and she wouldn't have blinked.
