There's two types of women in Proverbs. The manipulative lazy gossipy ones, and the virtuous hard-working productive ones.

Industrialization over the past 200 years has changed everything from sleep patterns to the whole societal structure and it's still in flux. Maybe it has always been.

I think the manipulative lazy gossips are taking advantage of the system and being supported by the system, and others of their kind.

The advice in Proverbs is that wise men and women should avoid these women at all costs. I don't think this type of women are going anywhere, but no reasonable person should support them. They have manipulated the government to provide for them and that is not ok.

So what does the virtuous woman do in Proverbs? She works - hard. At night, all day. She buys land, she makes and sells products, she provides food and clothing to her family. She is responsible for her household. As it should be. She should be recognized for the work of her hands.

So I believe women should have the right to work. I think preventing women from working is infatalizing/limiting. Women should have the opportunity to support their family and/or husband. Such as if their husband is dead, sick, injured, disabled, or even temporarily unemployed.

(Edit: one of my grandfathers was sick his whole life, one of my great-grandfathers was disabled, and they both were supported by strong, intelligent wives and supportive extended families. Even my mom worked for a few years. I do agree that it's ideal to have one parent home, teaching the kids. And probably even a good idea that it be the mom who does that. But practically speaking, both parents are responsible for the family. The government preventing women from working would be wrong.)

You'll note though that the distribution of work has never been "equal" - there are jobs better for men and jobs better for women. I could make a huge post on that, but don't want to get into it now.

Not sure on the right to vote though.
