UberEats apparently does grocery delivery now too. lol.
Grocery delivery apps are fucking terrible. Often times the grocery store doesn't have the item you ordered. So your courier will substitute items you don't want for it. Or text you asking for a substitute. Or you can turn substitution off but you don't get the item you wanted.
It's annoying when you order a bunch of stuff for making dinner. And then one key ingredient is missing. And then you're stuck with all the other things now.
I've used UberEats a couple times recently out of laziness but it's expensive. I paid $20.24 after fees and tip (I tipped Pajeet 15% because I didn't want to be a dick). If I drove there myself and waited for my food I could have saved $5.26. Because $2.32 went to Uber, an extra $0.30 in taxes and $2.64 went to Pajeet.
Previously I felt guilt-tripped into tipping Mohammed 20% because the default tip on UberEats is 20% of the post-fee post-tax now. It used to be 15% of the subtotal. So I tipped Mohammed $3.32, Uber got $2.24 and the taxman an extra $0.29. So I paid a $5.85 premium for delivery. But I jewed Pajeet out of that extra 88c because I didn't feel like paying a $6.14 premium to deliver my meal.
I feel sorry for Pajeet and Mohammed. But at the same time, who wants to pay a 41% premium on your meal for food delivery? Even if you stiff the courier completely, you're still paying like a 18% premium to Uber for a $12-14 meal. And they have a $2 surcharge for orders under $12
