Someone tried that already. It was called "The People's Party of Canada" and it completely flopped (zero seats and 1.6% of the vote in the 2019 election). Trump's situation is different because he's got 80million supporters, most of whom will walk away from the Republican party and follow him to a new party if he creates it.
