They're delaying the budget because they know they're going to be toast once it drops. Trudeau doubled the national debt in a year. Think about that. The amount of cuts they're going to have to make in order to start compensating for their insanely reckless spending will kill them in the polls. That's exactly why Trudeau has been jockeying to make an election happen before having to table the budget and not after.

Remember those confidence votes Trudeau survived in the fall, where everybody in here was like "Damn the NDP for supporting the Liberals!"?

Those were ploys by the Liberals to try and goad the opposition into calling an election, which the Liberals would have won. They wanted to lose those confidence votes so they could have their election before having to table a budget.

See, Trudeau can call an election any time he wants. But he doesn't want to be the one to call an election in the middle of a pandemic because the party that does that will be punished by the electorate at the ballot box. So he wanted the opposition to call it, and take the penalty for it.

I think what we'll see happen is the Liberal's budget will be outrageously incomplete and/or ambiguous in order to conceal the true seriousness of our finances. They'll do this to mitigate the damage to public opinion, while again goading the opposition into voting the budget down (which calls an election), and maybe, just maybe the Liberals can survive that election because voters haven't been hit with the full horror of our financial situation.

The economy is always a top voting issue. And right now, given our situation, nobody gives a shit about climate change, or 'racism', or any of the other shit that they used to win elections past. All eyes are gonna be on the economy in the next election, and the Liberals just put on the worst economic performance in Canadian history by a long shot.
