That 49% seems awfully convenient, large, but just missing a majority.
Many people who identify as Republicans have long resisted the measures designed to contain the virus — masks, social distancing, economic shutdowns — egged on by Trump, who downplayed the health risks of the pandemic
Republicans were actually the first to say we should wear masks, and were promoting distancing. This was shouted down by democrats, who also told people to gather. Once it became endemic, It flipped, with democrats wanting extreme measures, and republicans realizing both that it was too late, and that the danger wasn't as bad as initially believed, and the long-term harm from lockdowns was worse.
The only actual downplaying Trump did was early on, trying not to panic everyone, while still attempting measures to deal with it, such as wanting to shut down flights from China, and starting operation warp speed.
Conservative men may not see the vaccine as “manly,”
The bullshit in this article is so potent I have pink eye. Could be they're not actually vaccines (technically), could be they're only authorized for emergency use, could be there's little testing, could be they're more dangerous to a normal person under 50 than the virus is, could be they've been fudging the PCR test and fudging the death counts.
Both vaccines were subjected to rigorous safety testing by the FDA
The bullshit's now fully clogged my nasal cavity. I can't breathe. Emergency Use Authorization is not anywhere near the usual testing by the FDA. The actual effectiveness against the virus was even less tested (The 3rd trials for the mRNA injections had less than 200 people combined test positive, including controls). Testing so rigorous they need total immunity. Testing so rigorous they don't know how effective they'll be or how long they'll last. So rigorous the boss of pfizer still hasn't received it.
worried the family would be limited in where they could go on vacation, Granger said. Granger’s family usually travels to Disney World every year, he said, and she thought the park might require proof of vaccination.
There's the pressure. Informed consent my ass.
Granger’s wife was also worried about her elderly father, who still hadn’t received his vaccine. If Granger wasn’t vaccinated, he recalls her saying, he might put her dad at risk.
Did she worry as much about the kids that killed themselves because of the lockdowns. Did she worry that she might be putting her other family members at risk by pressuring them into a vaccine that hasn't been FDA approved. That we still don't know enough about long-term.
