I can never seriously consider the idea that any NDP member could get elected as PM. The only reason Mulcair did so well is because the Liberals were reviled, and he was later pilloried for it when the Liberals returned to being less reviled. The NDP under Singh did lose almost half their seats from 2015, so as a party they lost. If the Liberals didn't get such a large minority, NDP would have had no power, but because they did, the NDP does have power.

The region he chose is 70% Chinese and European, but it's a BC NDP stronghold. So I agree that it's easy to get elected as MP if you pick your district.
