Being a moderator is not fun. So the type of person who wants to be a moderator should be looked with great suspicion. Best case they're just very passionate about this place and want to help even at the expense of their own enjoyment. Worst case they're a narcissistic control freak getting off on their "power" or a foreign actor looking to subvert and destroy the forum from within.

I'm neither trying to praise nor attack the mods. It's simply asking the question "What are your motives for gaining power here?"
