Yeah right. When you average out every bit of consumer goods like books, video games and other crap that isn't seeing an upward pressure on its price.
If you just look at the basics, food/housing, inflation is insane.
Was looking at realtors.ca, I'm first ring suburb in Montreal, 5 minutes to the bridge, 10 to downtown. Attached shanties are 420k, condos 350k+.
I bought a single family detached home for 430k in 2017. Mine has double garage. The cheapest detached homes I can find in my area now are 600k. No garage, smaller rooms. I just asked the bank to re-appraise my home so I could get a homeowner credit line. I asked for 600k value, guy at the bank was like "Come on, we can get you more!". I was like nope, 600k will give me enough for the kitchen.
