I mean, I look at an EKG and have no idea what I'm seeing, unless it's flat-lining... But experts know. So I don't know, maybe they can tell from that? I'd be curious for anyone with any insight to say how accurate these things are, or if it's just like a metal detector: they know something is there but you have to dig it up to determine if it is a bottle cap or some change.
