The difference doesn't matter when you realize that both totals mean one person in 10 in the US has tested positive.
Another wave started a month ago, it is growing rapidly, and it's already the second worst in terms of daily new cases, with no signs of slowing down.
You seem to be one of those people who can't absorb the fact that prevention is the key because health care systems are only designed and funded for "normal" times. You're like the tourist standing on some foreign beach who thinks the tide has gone out when in fact it's the sign of a tsunami that you can't see yet.
