"Intervention" doesn't necessarily mean nation building. A tomahawk strike is an intervention. It's the nation building part that I think everyone pretty much agrees now ins't workable.

But even that isn't the whole truth. There's an elephant in the room nobody's mentioning out of political correctness.

Everyone's saying "nation building can't work". But Japanese culture is (or at least was) drastically different from, even violently hostile to western culture too, but nation building worked in exemplary fashion there post WW2.

So it's not the nation building itself that's the flawed concept, it's that there's one culture in particular that is completely beyond the pale and utterly hopeless. A culture so savage and hostile and hateful that no method known to man can civilize it.

And for some inexplicable reason we're still importing that culture by the boatload into the civilized world.
