Singapore is a very strict law and order type of society. Very conservative. I am pretty sure they have stronger restrictions on speech than in the United States. Singapore's constitution and their laws were heavily influenced by British Common Law. The United Kingdom and Canada never really had strong freedom of expression protections. And when Pierre Trudeau implemented Freedom of Expression in the Canadian Charter in 1982, he included exemptions for "hate speech" and defamation. In Canada, like in the UK, defamation laws are far more strict than in the United States.

The SJW cancel culture in the United States is mainly a cultural rather than a government regulation issue. The SJW disease in the west is mainly cultural. Though in Canada there is some legal teeth behind SJW ideology as well: you can be thrown in jail for "hate speech" in Canada. Cancel culture in the United States primarily involves private enterprise firing people for wrongthink because private enterprise fears retribution from the SJW mob.
