Yeah anyone who wants to learn about what liberalism used to be like in the 90s should listen to the D-Generation X anthem. Nirvana is often cited as the example of that generation. But this was more on the nose and simplistic to understand than Nirvana for people who weren't part of that era (no I'm not trolling. Pro wrestling is ridiculous but as an edgy 12-13 year old, DX was cool. DX even did blackface in the late 90s. They broke all the rules). And no I'm not Gen X. I'm an older millennial. I'm old enough to remember the culture in the 90s. Some excerpts:
You think you can tell us what to do? You think you can tell us what to wear? You think that you're better? We just got tired of doin' what ya told us to do You know who you're talkin' to? Well, you'd better get used to the way the ball bounces You think you're a big man? (Ha ha ha ha...) Treat you like you're a little man Yo, tell me what it's like to be half a man It must break your heart to see what I am Just stop wanting me to be someone else Put it away like a book on a shelf That you can’t read boy Yeah, that you can’t read little man
Back in 1997 when those lyrics were written, it was the conservatives who were the squares who were telling us what to do, what to wear, who thought they were better than us.
Now in 2020 it's the liberals who are the squares dictating to us. What the fuck happened to liberalism?
