Nobody believes any of this was Chagger's fault. That was just a really weak attempt at scapegoating on Trudeau's part.

Now if he treated her the way a leader is supposed to treat subordinates, he would never have tried to blame her for his own transgressions because that's not something leaders do. It's a lot easier to shift blame onto a peer because you're not abusing a power imbalance when you do that. So Trudeau gives himself permission to do that by treating his MPs and ministers as peers rather than subordinates.
